Respiratory System
The respiritory system is obviously responsible for the life function respiration, but what exactly does that include? It is basically the process of a person's body taking in oxygen, transporting the oxygen to cells, and releasing wastes.

Oxygen which is inhaled is needed during cell respiration in order to make ATP. Without this ATP, people would be without the energy necessary to maintain homeostasis. Also, carbon dioxide and water, which are waste products of cell respiration, are exhaled to prevent build-up.

The respiratory system provides the circulatory system with oxygen by diffusion across the membranes of the aveoli into the blood stream. It also works with the immune system. When foreign particles enter the respiratory system, the resulting mucuc surrounds and destroys the intrusion.
